Let's Get Started

Step 1) Safety On

Before we get started, wear a pair of waterproof rubber gloves. You will want to buy a pair of gloves dedicated to the sole purpose of toilet cleaning.

Toilets are an infestation of germs and bacteria, so you’ll want to protect your hands clean and dry, especially from the harsh chemicals within the cleaning products.

Make sure to store toilet cleaning gloves separately from your other gloves.Try get different color of gloves so you don't accidentally use them as a dish-washing gloves.

Step 2) Apply Toilet Cleaner

Now grab your toilet cleaner. This cleaners should be formulated to help eliminate stains, rings and mineral deposits.

Flush the toilet first to moisten the bowl.

Squirt on the inside of the rim and allow it to drip all the way down the sides of the bowl. Make sure to get a generous amount under the rim. Let it sit for a few minutes so it can soak in. However, read the manufacturer's instructions before use.

While we wait, we’ll wipe down the external surface.

On to the next step.

Step 3) Wipe The Outside With a Damp Sponge

We want to give the toilet an initial once-over wipe to remove dust, dirt and grime. Try wet the sponge with hot water. This will help make your efforts easier when you apply your disinfectant spray later on.

Wipe around all external surface. This includes: tank, lid, toilet seat, base, and exterior of the bowl - Just wipe everything.

Step 4) Scrub The Inside

Back to the bowl.

Brush the bowl with your toilet brush. Scrub the bowl thoroughly from the sides to the bottom of the bowl (inside the water). Make sure to put your muscles to work.

A good tip is to dip your brush into the water to work up the suds made from the your toilet cleanser. This will give you extra scrubbing power!

Flush the toilet. It’s best to always close the lid when you flush in case that there are any splatter from the chemically filled water.

If there are still stains, repeat the process again, allowing the toilet cleaner to soak in longer.

When the stain is removed, move on to the next step.

Tips and Best Practices:

  • Wash your hands after you’re done cleaning! Even you are one of THOSE people that don’t wash their hands after the toilet, you would sure want to from handling these chemicals even if you wore gloves.
